This industry-based project will provide an opportunity for students to:
1) Undertake an in-depth study on a specific topic of interest within the logistics industry.
2) Gain research experience on the challenges and processes in the industry.
3) Apply classroom concepts to industry settings thus enabling students to gain a better
understanding of logistics and supply chain related industry.
There will be four mandatory consultations sessions of 30 minutes each with the project
supervisor over the three months’ period. Students must come prepared for each
consultation session with the agreed upon deliverables. The supervisor will guide each
student towards the successful completion of the industry-based project. There are two
parts to this project.
A) Proposal Report (30%) Participation 20%, Proposal report 10%
At the proposal stage, students have to select a company of their choice to research on. It can
be a local or an international company in the logistics or supply chain related industry. Prior to
the first consultation session with the supervisor, students must select a company and do a
preliminary study on the background, history and growth of the selected company. Students
must also identify the challenges and problems that the company faces. At the first consultation
session, students must share the preliminary findings with the supervisor. If this proposal is
accepted, students will then proceed to write a 800-1,000 words report to be submitted at the
second consultation session.
The proposal report shall include the following: (Note: word count per section is just a
suggestion)
1) The history and development of the company (300 words)
2) The challenges and issues that the company faces (300 words)
3) The solutions and steps that the company undertake to overcome these challenges. (300
words)

The proposal report will be graded based on the following:
There is a word limit of between 800-1,000 words.
The proposal report must be type-written and
submitted through Turnitin via Blackboard. The
similarity index must not be more than 20%.
B) Final Report (70%)
At the third consultation session, students must complete at least 50% of the
5,000 words final report. And by the fourth session, the final report must have
been completed.
There is a word limit of between 5,000 words (4500-5500). The final report must
be type-written and submitted through Turnitin via Blackboard. The similarity
index must not be more than 20%.
The final report should include:
1) An in-depth analysis of the challenges and issues facing the company.
2) A critical evaluation of the steps taken by the company to overcome these
challenges.
3) To apply theories learnt to practice.
Student must achieve a combined overall mark of at least 50% in order to obtain a
pass grade for the module.
