Design and implementation of a practical fault detection data network algorithm Student Name/ID- Assignment 3, Research Proposal – Semester 1, 2021. Abstract Due to the rapid growth of the internet and the increasing complexity of corporate and public data networks, it is crucial to have effective systems in place to notify network administrators of potential failures. This is especially important as applications become more reliant on network functionality. As networks become larger and more complex, intelligent tools are necessary to manage them. The aim of the proposed study to develop an algorithm that can identify network failures before they happen, based on the assumption that normal network behaviour is predictable and any abnormalities or failures will disrupt this behaviour. To achieve this, the study will use on quasi-experiment research method. This will not limit the control of all external variables and the experiment is not in a controlled laboratory environment. But in a network with real traffic and users. The algorithm generation stage will be based on the obtained data and literature research. For the System Development no research will be done except for the bibliographic research necessary for the programming of the system. Introduction In contemporary environments, attention to traffic patterns is not only dedicated to government, but also extends to private environments. Traffic analysis is appearing in corporate environments and in telecommunications providers to create and manage resource usage policies. For internet service providers, traffic can be observed to analyse changes in user behaviour patterns and preferences. This can help predict future uses of servers, links and resources and plan ahead for their deployment (Robitza et al., 2017). With the growth of the Internet and the importance of connectivity for the large number of applications that depend on it, monitoring the performance of this connectivity has become essential.
