Intentional teaching
This lesson aims to encourage children to think about the similarities and differences in their skin, hair, and eye colours compared to others. They will also explore their own thoughts and feelings about colour and personal identity using a picture of a rainbow as a starting point for discussion.
Aims and objectives
After this lesson, children will be able to:
- Be honest about your thoughts and emotions.
- Be receptive to other people’s opinions and recommendations regardless of their colours.
- Become aware of the relationships, similarities and differences that exist between people.
- Begin to develop a clear understanding of who they are individually and who they are as Australians.
- Pupils to recognise and classify colours in relation to the natural world (rainbow).
EYLF Learning Outcomes
Toddlers will obtain EYLF Outcome 5 (2009), which means they will be able to communicate effectively.
